Member profile

Founded in 1989, The Association of Motion Picture Sound was established as an organisation through which those engaged in sound for picture could exchange information, endeavour to solve common problems and keep abreast of rapidly changing technology.

High qualifying standards are set for Full membership and today, there is a database in excess of 300 of the most highly experienced and imaginative recording and sound-editing talent in the British Cinema and Television industries. Other grades of membership are available, as is a corporate sponsorship category (Sustaining Member) that is open to companies and facilities that support the aims of the Association.

An annual programme of technical meetings and manufacturers' presentations is mounted, together with regular film screenings in conjunction with other co-member Guilds of the Cine Guilds of Great Britain.

Our Journal, published four times a year and widely distributed around the world carries meeting reports, practical and technical articles plus news of our own and wider industry activity. AMPS further supports its membership through live Internet streaming of events, and with an on-line Directory, AMPS-talk and AMPS Connect electronic newsgroups.
