UK Screen Association - Representing the UK's Post Production and Special Effects industries

Currently we provide a range of services.  Our Classic Subscription service enables customers to choose from internal or external collections of the following list of materials:

All paper, confidential waste for shredding, cardboard, glass, metal cans, plastic bottles, toner cartridges, batteries, CDs, mobile phones, fluorescent light bulbs, and IT and electrical equipment (including white goods appliances)

We provide environmental consultancy services and one-off collections.

We have an effective 'Recycling Menu', which allows customers to pick and chose the materials and level of service they prefer.

For internal collections, our trained crew-members empty your office bins so you don't have to, and emerge is able to offer suitable bins to buy or rent.

Externally, we provide cages, 240L bins and sacks to store materials in, all on loan for free.  We also collect from 1100L bins, and are able to purchase these on behalf of customers.

For Manchester City Centre customers ONLY we have pioneered a recycling service called the emerge Daily Takeaway.  This service mirrors city waste collection services, where bags are placed on the street at specific times.  We collect daily (but you don't have to put them out that often), 7 days a week.  Bags are sold in bundles of 100.  The materials we collect on this service are paper, cardboard, plastic bottles and cans.  It is ideal for small offices that produce smaller amounts of waste or have limited storage space.

emerge has also developed an Appliance Reuse Centre (ARC) where our trained electricians repair unwanted appliances for resale, either direct or through charities (such as Age Concern and The Wesley Furniture Project).  We collect unwanted appliances for free (washing machines, cookers, tumble dryers, dishwashers and microwaves) and are able to collect refrigerated items for a charge.

emerge is a community-led social enterprise.  We provide employment to the local community, govern ourselves by environmentally and socially conscientious ethics, and all profits go back into the business.  We have no share holders.

The first company to provide domestic recycling collections in the whole of Greater Manchester, back in 1996, emerge now provide services to 800 business, 7,000 homes and over 110 schools.  We provide educational workshops to participating schools, teaching children about the 3Rs ? reduce, reuse, recycle.  Raising awareness of the 3Rs is the numbers one aim of emerge
