itfc wins prestigious subtitling contract with Five

itfc the London-based provider of content management services to broadcasters and content owners, has been exclusively contracted by Five to provide all its subtitling for the deaf and hard of hearing.

The contract was won on the back of a competitive tender and includes subtitling for its three channels - Five, Five USA and Fiver.

Five is required by OFCOM to provide subtitling for 80% of its programmes on its main channel and exceeded this target in the third quarter of 2009 achieving 82.8%. itfc will subtitle many of Five's most popular shows - including FlashForward, Home and Away, Five News and Live from Studio Five - to help continue this upward trend.

David Burge, controller of operations and technology said: "Five has been working closely with itfc over the last year on a number of initiatives and we feel the subtitling contract is a natural development of our relationship with them."

"We're very pleased that Five have decided to use our subtitling services," said Chris Higgs, managing director, itfc. "We already provide them with key pre-transmission content services - including technical compliance, digital delivery and editing. We provide solutions around our clients' specific requirements, and with Five this meant being able to respond quickly and adapt easily. This contract was an excellent fit with our existing workflows for Five ensuring they receive the best quality deliverables quickly and efficiently."

itfc already provides subtitling services for many leading broadcasters including ITV, GMTV, RTÉ, Virgin Media and Hallmark.
