Rent Continues Tapeless Push

Rent, The Farm Group's specialist broadcast hire division, has embarked on a major expansion programme to coincide with its second birthday.

Building on two years of solid growth, client demand has prompted Rent to further increase its kit list with the addition of a comprehensive range of cameras, accessories and decks, ranging from solid-state HD minicams through to full-HD camera kits.

Rent has established a strong market position by specialising in the supply of kits which enable cost-efficient capture of high quality footage up to full HD.

Sony's Z7, EX1-R and EX3 cameras, which have gained widespread popularity across a range of genres from factual programming to corporate production, form the bulk of the latest round of investment.

Combined with Canon HJ and Carl Zeiss prime lenses and innovative accessories such as nanoFlash data recorders (for higher bitrate capture) and Letus 35mm depth-of-field adaptors (for 35mm filmic effect), these cameras provide exceptional quality images at a price point significantly lower than traditional HD shooting kits.

Working closely in conjunction with The Farm Group's post facilities, the Rent team has a unique, first-hand perspective on the tapeless production process from acquisition through to final delivery. This knowledge allows for close collaboration with production teams to determine the most efficient use of their shooting budgets.
