John Sergeant on the Tourist Trail

Evolutions Finish work on new three part documentary for primetime ITV1

Client: Mentorn for ITV1

Brief: Finishing work on new three part documentary for primetime ITV1

How it was done: John Sergeant's 3x60 series focuses on the Britain that's seen through the eyes of the over 32m tourists that flock to its shores every year, whether they be German bikers visiting the TT on the Isle of Man or Punjabi musicians in Wales for the Eisteddfod.

The brief for the series was to give it a naturalistic but rich feel. The series was shot during all too rare sunny British summer days, and the idea was to make the most of the weather and give the whole series a warm feel. Vignettes and secondary layers were thus used to create filters to enhance blue skies and golden sunshine and to bring the presenter to the foreground in busy shots during the Trooping Of The Colour and other such events.

The series was graded in Pogle by Tim O'Brien and the audio was completed in ProTools by Richard Ashley.

Watch it: 20.00, 10 November, ITV1
