The Hospital Club 100, now in its second year, launches its search this week to find the most powerful movers and shakers in the creative and media industries, with the emphasis on genuine current contribution and importance, not just the size of someone's celebrity status, profile, bank balance, titles or past reputation.
...in association with The Independent...
Unlike other rankings, the list has a large democratic element, whereby voting is open to anyone in the creative or media industry. Over the next month social networking site, www.thehospitalclub.com, will feature an evolving ranking of who the creative industries feel are the real pioneers in their field. The Final 100 will feature 10 individuals per category, 5 of whom are "established" and 5 of whom are "emerging".
The categories reflect the overall membership of the club and are as follows; Music, Fashion, TV, Film, Art & Design, New Media/Digital, Publishing/Journalism, Advertising/Marketing & PR, Theatre & Performing Arts, and Books/Authors.
The list encourages voters within their respective industries to think laterally about their nominations. Who are the real tastemakers behind the front men? Who are the most influential bloggers? Which picture editors are behind the biggest celebrity' downfalls? Who are the most feared and ruthless diarists?
Last year saw new talent from across the advertising, music and performing arts categories being featured alongside the likes of Mark Ronson, Jonathan Ross, Elisabeth Murdoch and Erin O'Connor.
CEO of the Hospital Club, Will Turner said: "Last year, the response was overwhelming and for the first time we had a truly interesting list of establishment figures and the most influential young and emerging talent. We hope this year's list will be as instructive."
