Hireworks hires new staff and opens new rental base in Soho

Film and TV editing equipment rental company Hireworks (www.Hireworks.tv) has recruited hire specialist Danny Simmonds to head up a new operation in Soho.

The new office will operate in addition to Hireworks Broadwick Street cuttings rooms and will ensure that their Soho based clients will have access to locally available kit, service and support.

Investment in equipment for this new base is in excess of £100,000 and is part of the ongoing £500,000 capital expenditure programme the company has embarked on in recent months.

Simmonds has spent the best part of 25 years in the business, most recently as Operations Manager for Broadcast rental company Gearbox. He started the Gearbox Express outlet in Soho five years ago and oversaw its speedy development. He said "I am delighted to be joining such an exciting and growing company as Hireworks and am thrilled that we can now offer an even more rapid service for Avid, Final Cut Pro and Lightworks technology, in addition to the full range of VTRs required for our increasing list of Soho clients".

Since its launch the company has recently won contracts to supply editing technology for a number of high profile film and television productions - including the hit movies Mama Mia, the Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and The Reader along with popular TV series Little Dorrit, Lark Rise to Candleford and Harley Street.  They have also just been commissioned to start work on the next two Harry Potter movies and the new Ridley Scott Robin Hood adventure starring Russell Crowe.

"We're delighted to have recruited Danny" says Executive Chairman Lawrie Read "his experience and expertise will be a valuable asset and with him running the new offices in Soho we can offer an even better service for our many production clients."

Hireworks specializes in the dry hire of editing technology - specifically Avid, Lightworks and Final Cut Pro working from offices in Pinewood Studios and central London.

Recent projects include: The Prisoner, Little Dorrit, Harley Street, Lark Rise to Candleford, Rock Rivals, Bonekickers, New Tricks, Primeval and Tess of the D'Urbervilles for TV. Film projects include Nine, The Reader, Dread, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Mama Mia, Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince, Hippie Hippie Shake, The Other Man and This Side of the Truth. In addition live events include Euro 2008 and the Glastonbury music festival.
